At this year's
Thomas Krenn award
the Teckids e. V. took 2nd place, winning a hardware voucher of 2000€ as a prize.
The System Administration team, including one of our junior members, prepared the hardware acquired on April 3, installed it in the data center and integrated it. We were able to expand our setup and partially enable high availability.
With the help of the acquired hardware, we were able to build our virtualization cluster based on Proxmox so that all our projects around free software in education have many more resources available now. This allows us to set up comprehensive platforms for schools, education and youth institutions in time for the increased demand for online teaching, such as publicly usable instances of BigBlueButton and Moodle. This has contributed to the fact that more education providers are interested in these solutions and that the various projects are gaining in reach. We will soon equip all projects from the schul-frei spectrum with demo platforms.
Due to the cancellation of the "Chemnitzer Linuxtage", the award ceremony could not take place, but we are very happy about the prize and would like to thank Thomas-Krenn.AG for their support.
