The virtual Open Education (Half-)Day (OED) took place on April 25, 2020. At the OED, people interested in Free Software and Open Educational Resources can meet and exchange ideas. We were proud to host the conference's online platform.

The OED usually takes place in Switzerland and is offered by various organisations, especially the association CH Open . However, due to the current situation, it could not take place there. That's why it took place online. For this purpose, we have provided our service BigBlueButton . Using the platform's various functions, the speakers were able to present their content and also interact with the 200-odd participants of the conference.

Over the course of three hours, the guests were able to participate in various keynotes and workshops. We also participated with a keynote, in which we presented the schul-frei project and were able to share the ideas behind it with the participants. Some of our junior members also participated in the lecture and were able to inspire some listeners. During the OED, we were also able to determine that our BigBlueButton instance is running very reliably and can also handle conferences with partcipant numbers well above those usually found in online classrooms.
